Digital Tachograph Files also known as a .DDD files are files which are stored on the internal memory of a digital tachograph and contains all the data and information related to a vehicle and its driver(s). In Spain and France the DDD files have different formats. In Spain the digital tachograph files format is .TGD and in France there are 2 types of digital tachograph files: The vehicle information is stored in the V1B format and the driver data is stored in the C1B file.

According to the European legislation (2006) companies are legally obliged to frequently download and analyse the digital tachograph files and they are in the obligation of being able to provide the information on demand to legal authorities during inspections.

A remote tachograph downloader can remotely download data in real time without the driver manually uploading the tachograph data from the card. The tachograph download integrates the data and the fleet software to ensure commercial vehicle managers have actionable driver performance insights.

The digital tachograph itself is an electronic device that is installed in the cabin of the vehicle. It saves data on the driver card as well as on the built-in mass storage device. It has a read and data connection, a small display and a printer. The use of this device is mandatory in the European Union and Switzerland. It is also possible to remotely download data from the digital tachograph.

Reading data from a digital tachograph consists in transferring the data stored in the device to an appropriate device enabling such a process, and then saving them on a computer disk. Files with the extension * ddd are downloaded from the tachograph. This is the only reliable way of recording information and driver activity that is compliant with European Union law. For this reason, only on their basis it is possible to create a record of working time.

Thanks to the implementation of software in our application that allows you to automatically download data from a driver card or tachograph, the user receives a cheap and fast tool that allows you to send the necessary files from anywhere in the world. To take advantage of the possibility offered by the Mobile Driver Assistant, you must download and install the application on a laptop or smartphone with the Android operating system. Then log in with the received login and password. The download process is automatic and starts after inserting the driver card into the USB reader or when connecting to the tachograph via a special dedicated cable. The application sends data in the form of a file to the customer's account to a defined company folder, assigning the file to the appropriate folder on the cloud disk.
